2022.01.24 03:54 QualifiedCaptain 1986 F-250 NO OIL PRESSURE

‘86 F-250 7.5L 460, 4x4, SCLB. 102k miles.
Sat for 2 years after the carb seals failed and I had no time to work on it. New carb, ready to run….
Dash gauge shows no oil pressure, fuel pump wouldn’t run (oil pressure switch for pump). Hot wired the oil pressure switch to verify that was the fuel pump issue.
She starts and runs fine (I won’t let her run long since I don’t know if I have oil pressure or not. Never builds oil pressure.
Oil level was good, did an oil and filter change and no change.
She sounds good when running…..
Where do I start? Or do I just need to pull the motor and replace the pump?

2022.01.24 03:54 FlorbFnarb Cable management: dull as death, until you can't stand the mess any longer

I'm the last person to be accused of being a neat freak, but some messes are beyond the Pale.
Welcome To My Hell Say hello to my desk:
Looks kinda messy but workable...until you see the abomination behind the desk:
Understand, this is after I did a little bit of neatening, using twist-ties to loop and tie up some excess cable length for some stuff.
I've got a lot going on back there:

Cable hell, in other words. Medusa didn't have as much snaking around as my desk did.
Time For A Trip To Amazon Server rack mount cable managers:
1" and 1/4" cable sleeving:
Two different packs of assorted cable clips:
And a surge suppressor box:
And...it arrives: https://imgur.com/a/5MwGXON
The rack mount cable managers came via the post office, a little bent, but just barely; I straightened them out by hand.
Time to Make the Doughnuts Took literally everything off the desk. Drilled some starter holes in the back of the desk and mounted the cable managers with wood screws and washers:
  • dusted and cleaned the desk
  • vacuumed the sawdust up
  • cleaned literally everything
  • put it back on the desk
  • plugged everything in, arranging cables in the cable managers as best I could
  • plugged all the power cables back into the surge suppressor, put the surge suppressor in the box for it, and plugged it back into the wall:
Still a ton of shit coming out the back of my computer, but it's much neater now:
Cable sleeving neatens things up:
  • 1" sleeve around the cables in the gap between the left and right cable managers
  • more 1" sleeve around the various power cords coming down from the desk to the surge suppressor box
  • 1/4" sleeve joining the Rift S cable and the headphone USB cable
The surge suppressor box really helps, but damn it's packed full, and this is a pretty big one:
Desk pushed back against the wall:
I really like having those cable sleeves:
Desk is much neater:
Much, much neater:
In Retrospect...
  1. I originally wondered if the two cable managers were overkill; in the end, they were just barely sufficient. I had considered some plastic stuff that I thought would do the trick; looking back, it wouldn't have had anywhere near sufficient room inside.
  2. Why are computer power cords so short? Some stuff I had far more cable length than I needed, but the computer cable was really just long enough for me to sleeve it with the rest of the power cables.
  3. The surge suppressor box was just barely big enough. I have a large surge suppressor, and it has a number of empty sockets, but even still it just barely fit in the box. I got the battery charger in there and plugged in, and managed to stuff some excess cable in there, but in reality, I could have used one an inch taller (so the lid would shut easily) and double the length and width, to have room for the transformer blocks on the speaker and monitor cables. Get a large box for your surge suppressor. I might need to get a second one just to make things even neater.
  4. The cable sleeves were a last-minute addition, but I'm very glad I did. They really make the whole thing neater. The 1/4" sleeving is a bit small, though, and getting it around the headphone and Rift S cables together was a bit of work. If I had to do it again I'd use 1/2" sleeving for that. The 1" works well for the power cables and for the bundle running between the two cable managers.
  5. I haven't done anything with the cable clips yet, but I'll figure something out.
  6. If I get any more stuff, I'm gonna need a USB hub. I should probably already have one; I should probably check and make sure none of this stuff draws more power than the motherboard wants to put out.
TL,DR: I got sick of the ridiculous cable mess in the back and spent most of my day off today redoing the whole damn thing. Cable management isn't just for inside your case.
You may now return to your usual programming of wailing and gnashing of teeth over GPU prices.

2022.01.24 03:54 BigBootyBear What is it that gets "emptied" during a fast breaking meal?

Today I have broken my first 3 day water fast (72 hrs). I started with eating 400g of veal shanks, 200g of sourdough bread with some butter and a dried tomato spread.
By the time I was done with the veal, I rushed to the bathroom. After being done with the sourdough, I sprinted to the bathroom for a second time. An hour later when I felt hungry again, I ate a bowl of cereal (200ml milk, 40g flakes) and when I was done with that, I had a MASSIVE episode of diarrhea.
I tried to google what was up, and apparently I should have broken the fast more gradually with lighter food. But what I wonder about is this - I haven't eaten a thing for 72 hours. My meal was an hour after I woke up, so I didn't still have the time to hydrate as much. And the stomach takes hours to digest food, especially the fatty food I have eaten.
So what was it that I "emptied"? My large intestine had 72 hours to absorb all the water in it. Did all the things I ate just flowed out of me as they came? Did I absorb any of the nutrients of what I had eaten? I'd like to get some explanation for what happened.

2022.01.24 03:54 sesameshiba Only able to communicate effectively with text/writing

I had a pretty sizable conflict with my roommate in college today who I usually get along incredibly well with. I wont get into the details, but she has admitted that she crossed a few lines and has (mostly) taken responsibility for the situation. But the point of this post is that in this situation and almost every other decent sized conflict in my life, I find it so difficult to communicate face to face and actually make every point I want to. I communicate multitudes better when I am able to write everything out and edit it, and when I'm unable to do this during a conflict, I often say the wrong things, give up on trying to talk about the issue at all, or fail to advocate for myself when needed. I am also just super uncomfortable doing this.

  1. Does this come off as shallow or "fake," or really anything negative? I feel like it does but I don't think I would mind if someone in my life had to write out their thoughts during a conflict.
  2. Does anyone have any advice on this? (Also if it matters, I have been diagnosed with ADHD and anxiety)

2022.01.24 03:54 TheCommunistLemon Slippy Items

Hitman 3 features a multitude of items that NPCs can slip on when placed, such as the banana peel, grape vines and soap. However, from what I can tell none of these are avalible as unlocks, which would mean they would be able to be used in the legacy maps and would add a new layer of complexity to them. Am I missing something or is there any reason why the older maps wouldn't support an unlockable banana or soap?
