My biggest concern about starting hrt is that I won't like having breasts, there is no evidence to support this doubt and every time I've simulated them I've enjoyed the experience. It's just that when I think about it I visualise in 1st person looking down at my chest and feeling uncertain. Is this just nerves and did any of you have this experience?

I just tried messing around with the gnome-settings and reinstalled the gnome-settings-daemon commands, and tada, error messages!

2021.12.09 07:13 Dmtsi-Hilina An Illuminating Precedent In The Eritrean Independence Struggle !
Asmara 1978. The city was surrounded and held under siege by the Eritrean freedom fighters, and the people was eager, anticipating to breathe in the air of freedom. But after a long siege the unexpected happened. Without any warning or any military confrontation the Eritrean fighters retreated, all the way to the low-land, to the place where the resistance had its beginning.
The emotional response by the Eritrean people was understandably one of hopelessness, because of the longing for freedom, exhausted as it was by the Ethiopian oppression. The people couldn’t understand and accept the cruelty of losing the freedom that was within reach of its finger tips. Although heart-breaking to the ordinary people, it was a move that secured the survival of the struggle and ultimately the independence of Eritrea.
The reason behind the retreat was the sudden direct involvement in the war of a super- power, the Soviet Union. The huge Derg army was provided with modern armaments, and had at its disposal Soviet military generals to plan its war strategies. The retreat became imperative for the Eritrean army. It is undeniable that it was a major set-back and that it had prolonged the war significantly, but it was out of the control of the Eritrean liberation army. All they could do was to adjust themselves to face the new status-quo that saw a super-power give a new life-line to the Derg, tilting the balance of power in favour of the enemy.
The TDF and OLA supporters need to understand that in a war there are always set- backs. Strategic retreats and adjustments are common practice on a battlefield, and they come as a response to developments on the enemy’s side, whether it is political or military. If the political and military landscape changes suddenly in a significant way, and you fail to assess it correctly and take appropriate measures, there is a serious chance that you jeopardise your whole military mission and lose the war. Such moments can define the fate of a struggle. An objective assessment, timely and brave decision making, however unpopular, are the traits of a highly experienced and skillful military leadership.
Lately, the direct involvement in the war by major foreign powers has become obvious and more aggressive, and is infact being denounced by the international media. It is certain that foreign military personnel are involved at least in operating the drones and providing assistance with their military expertise. The extensive use of drones and other modern weaponry is becoming more evident, and therefore a change of strategy to counter their impact was mandatory.
I understand the bewilderment of the people following the retreat, but we need to be sensitive and intelligent enough not to behave as if we were the supporters of a sports team, and refrain from expressing disappointment and even disdain whenever the struggle suffers a set-back.
The social media and our obsessive consumption of real time news is making us lose perspective. We can’t expect things to happen on the battlefield, at the speed of our “mouse clicks”, in-between the short gaps of our frantic bouncing from Twitter to Facebook and TikTok, etc.
Let’s not forget that the hope, pride and even the joy that we feed-on daily from the comfort of our peaceful lives, comes at a very high cost. Let’s remember that the HOPE that lights-up our day is the selfless, ultimate gift of the falling young men and women. We need to be aware and respectful of the solemnity of moments like these. We can reproach players for not giving it all in a sports match, but we cannot behave the same way with a fighter or a soldier, who is willingly offering his life for the benefit of the living. Even if our feelings come from a good place.
The incredible progression of TDF have fueled our expectations, and we were eager to see the end of the suffering of the people back home, and our reaction is human, but it doesn’t make it right.
I feared that this day would come, and I remember writing that it was a “race against time”. Abiy Ahmed’s trip from Asmara to Ankara indicated that the developments were leading to where we are today. I figured that Isayas and Abiy wouldn’t hesitate to make Ethiopia the theater of a proxy war, since TDF’s victory would sanction their end .
It is my opinion, that not even capturing Addis could have ended the war. As I said, the war would have continued, and Asmara would have become the HQ of the enemy and Assab probably the base for the Ethiopian Airforce. An occupied Addis would have become the target of drone attacks, and that’s why the westerners were so vehemently against the take-over of Addis by TDF and OLA.
I am frankly dismayed by how the International Community ( regardless of their geopolitical alignment) seem to be invested on Abiy Ahmed, believing that he is still the man that can guarantee their interests. Infact, now more than ever, since the huge debt accumulated is to become a hefty leverage. The chances that the International Community would recognise a new government in Addis are slim, until TDF and OLA deflate their hopes definitively, by showing unequivocally , once again, their military strength despite all the high- tech weaponry of the enemy.
We need to understand that the take-over of Addis has to coincide with the end of the war, otherwise it would be pointless, and can infact become more of a liability. Taking responsibility of the capital city is risky, when you can’t exclude that Isayas and Abiy wouldn’t cut the route to Djibouti.
Many think that the military campaign in the Amhara region was to no avail, since TDF is retreating, but they are wrong for a number of reasons.
Firstly, it was a valid strategy because the war needed to be brought on enemy’s territory, otherwise we would have seen more atrocities in Tigray that could have been easily justified as collateral damage or even blamed on TDF, facilitating their genocidal plans.
Secondly, the campaign’s objective was primarily to decimate the regular army and weaken the military apparatus, and in that regard it was highly successful. The core of the army is gone and the enemy is left with newly trained and militias.
Thirdly, the war needed to be brought on their territory because the rest of the Ethiopian people needed to experience the war first-hand and become part of the solution by opposing the war and the regime, and possibly forcing the International Community to make a genuine effort for a negotiated end of hostilities.
Fourthly, TDF needed a vaster territory to secure all kind of resources for the army, from fuel to food, not to speak of the armaments. The TDF cannot afford to be idle, even if it decides not to occupy cities and towns. It needs to organise military incursions to hit the enemy and procure itself provisions, possibly without suffering many casualties. The government has unlimited resources for now, but cannot sustain a prolonged war. It is counting on a very expensive short war and a fast victory, and that’s why TDF and OLA need to safeguard the integrity of their army and exhaust the regime both economically and militarily. And most importantly discourage the foreign powers that are financing him.
Many worry over a protracted war like with the Derg, but I don’t believe that this regime can resist that long, having to provide for double the population the Derg had, and with a profoundly changed consumerist society, highly intolerant to hardship.
This is already a bankrupt state, or should I say already a colonised country, where plenty of foreign countries hold significant stakes on its economic future. I once wrote “ Ethiopia colonised at last? ”, and many may have regarded it as a provocation, but it was an objective analysis of the unfolding situation and a warning I wanted to send, knowing the intentions of the foreign powers and Isayas Afewerki, whose intelligence network and military apparatus in Ethiopia will allow him to become the foot-soldier of foreign interests.
( Bear in mind that I didn’t say Eritrea because Eritrea won’t benefit a cent from Isayas’s endeavours in Ethiopia. Isayas has plundered Eritrea for the past 30 years, monetising and transferring everything to secret off-shore accounts, which ultimately will only benefit the host countries, whether western or eastern. And now, he is actively networking to plunder Ethiopia with the complicity of Abiy and for the benefit of foreign powers, while enriching themselves as brokers. In the end, that’s what they are, “brokers” between foreign Thieves and Us, the willing victims who are cheering away our wealth.)
Fifthly, if it has been established that the capture of Addis wouldn’t conclude the war, the priority might as well have become breaking the siege either on the Djibouti front or Humera. The constant threat posed by Asmara might have become a motive for concern too. Nothing can be excluded, and therefore gathering and compacting the forces for that scope makes perfect sense.
TDF’s move in these days was clearly a thought-through readjustment, and there is no reason to doubt their expert military assessment of the war and the strategy they intend to follow to reach the intended goal.
We can’t have hysterical panic attacks whenever unexpected occurrences take place. A battlefield is not a checkers board where the pawns are moved in a predictable way ; It is fluid and highly unpredictable, where adjustments and adaptations are made constantly, relying on the skills and experience of the leading military officers. We can’t expect the officers to explain their military decisions on real-time, so that we spectators don’t have to worry. Strategic adjustments and retreats, include setting up enemy troops for an ambush, and we can’t honestly expect them to reveal their plans in advance.
We live in an age of information, where news, speculations and propaganda travel incessantly at a lightning speed, presenting a serious challenge to the military officers of both parties. But great military leaders, who understand that they can’t control the flow of false information, they might even decide to exploit it and let the general public worry, if it can get to mislead the enemy and force it into making wrong military decisions based on that.
My recommendation is, we keep a cool head and focus on doing what is expected of us. The spectre of a proxy war in Ethiopia had been hovering since the very beginning when foreign troops had been allowed to operate on Ethiopian soil. It was just a matter of time before the big players showed themselves in the open.
TDF has taken the first step towards a new phase, where the efforts of the foreign powers have to be frustrated, and their hopes to reverse the war deflated.
Our contribution has to be louder and braver, in denouncing the inadequate and less than genuine efforts of the International Community in mediating a peaceful resolution of the conflict and in taking decisive measures against those who have committed War Crimes and violated International Laws, and still persevere in starving an entire population with the intent of committing an openly declared genocide.
Honour to the Martyrs !
Tigray will prevail !! No doubt about it ! But faith and patience are of the essence !

2021.12.09 07:13 One_Sympathy_7071 Feeling like a failure and wondering if this is just how my life is going to always go
This is intended as more of a rant than anything else, and this is a throwaway account because I know my boyfriend uses Reddit and I don’t want him seeing this and feeling guilty for not being there for me or whatever.
It’s finals week. I have the absolute worst chem teacher but I manage to scrape by and pass his class due to my lab scores. But my bio class… I study and study and study and I fail the class by less than 1% so I have to retake it for next semester. Not only does this not bode well for medical school applications, I have also never failed a class before in my life. I have received all A’s and B’s my entire life and now I feel like I’m failing everything. I’ve never been that type of person. I’ve always had the good grades and worked hard enough to get everything I ever went after. To add on to this massive feeling of failure and self doubt, I received my first letter of rejection from a job I was applying for. They won’t tell me what I did wrong or why I didn’t receive the position, but I feel like I did everything right. I wore the suit, wrote thank you letters, and revised my resume and had good references. I’ve applied to several jobs in the past and always got a job offer. Maybe I’ve been living life on a silver platter, but I’ve always worked extremely hard to get what I want.
What I’ve never had much luck in is relationships. I’ve dated before but they’ve never been good relationships by any means. By which I mean… highly toxic and abusive relationships.
Currently I am in the best relationship of my life. He’s kind and funny and never fails to be there for me when I need him. But the moment I had this amazing relationship, everything else seemed to fall apart from the seems.
I feel like I am only allowed to have one or the other. If I have a great relationship I can’t have good grades or a good career, but if I have good grades and a good career, I can’t have a good relationship.
If you’re still reading this far into my rant… I guess any advice would be greatly appreciated. I hate feeling like this and it really dropped my esteem and work ethic into the toilet. Thanks in advance to anyone kind enough to offer advice, even if it’s just to tell me to suck it up.
